Ecological Design and Consultancy

Ecological Audits
We all want to reduce the impact we have on the environment from our day to day activities, but it can be very hard to know where to start and what to do to be effective. An ecological audit will assess the various impacts from a range of regular daily activities and identify which of these can be reduced relatively easily. We can even measure your 'ecological footprint' and make recommendations on how this can be reduced to a globally fair share.
Alternatively, an energy audit will look in detail at your energy use and calculate the carbon emissions resulting from this. We can then advise on steps you can take to reduce your energy use and suggest ways that you may be able to generate some energy yourself or source it from ecologically benign processes.
Energy Resource Assessment
Before installing any renewable energy equipment it is useful to estimate how much energy the system is likely to produce; this information enables the installed equipment to be correctly specified and an assessment of the financial return made.
Unfortunately, the cost of long term resource monitoring can exceed the system cost on many small projects. By accessing long term climate records and correcting these local conditions and variations using a variety of techniques, Sage can offer a low cost assessment of the energy resource with which the viability of a development at a proposed site can be evaluated.
Feasibility Studies
Before beginning any project it is wise to consider how realistic and achievable the desired outcomes are. Sage can undertake feasibility studies which will investigate both the technological and financial viability of the proposed projects. The project can then be developed with increased confidence of success, or adapted at an early stage to avoid un-necessary expense.
Training
As well as offering a range of courses led by tutors qualified in adult education, we can offer training tailored to the particular needs of your organisation. This may involve making staff aware of waste management and recycling opportunities in order to save resources and money, or how to adapt to using green technology in order to maximise the benefit gained.
